DeviceMaster Modbus Server Installation Overview

If you are not familiar with installing the DeviceMaster UP, you can use the following information to guide you through installation or you can use the appropriate User Guide.

[Note]
Note

The Modbus Server firmware does not support the DeviceMaster UP 16-port.

  1. Install the hardware.

  2. Install the appropriate version of PortVision DX for your operating system and configure the network information.

    [Note]
    Note

If you have previously installed PortVision DX you may want to verify that you are running the latest version. PortVision DX is continuously updated with new features and added support for the latest hardware model releases.

  3. If the DeviceMaster UP contains Modbus Server, you should verify that it is the latest version before configuring the serial characteristics. If a new firmware version is available, upload the firmware to the DeviceMaster UP.

  4. Optionally, install a COM port redirector if you require COM port support. You can download and install the Pepperl+Fuchs Comtrol, Inc. serial port redirector for Windows.

  5. Configure the DeviceMaster UP port characteristics for your environment using the embedded web pages on the DeviceMaster UP.

There are two ways that you can access the embedded web pages:

    • Open PortVision DX, right-click on the appropriate DeviceMaster UP unit and select Webpage.

    • Open your web browser and enter the IP address of the DeviceMaster UP.
