Use the following procedures to add a DeviceMaster UP or DeviceMaster MOD port and configure the port for the serial port redirector for use with Modbus Router and Modbus Server. If necessary, refer to the secure port redirector help system for more information.

Adding a Serial Port

Use the following procedure to add a port or ports.

If necessary, open the Secure Port Redirector, click Start and click Secure Port Redirector.
Click Port and Add Client Virtual Port.....
1. Select an available COM port in the Virtual serial port drop list.
2. Enter the Remote IP address of the DeviceMaster UP or DeviceMaster MOD.
3. Enter the TCP port number for which you want to communicate on the DeviceMaster UP or DeviceMaster MOD.
4. Click OK.
Repeat Step 2 for each port that you want to use as a secure COM port.

Configuring the Secure COM Port

Use the following procedure to configure the port.

Double-click the port that you want to configure.
Click the Protocol tab and then click Raw Data.
Click OK to save the settings for the DeviceMaster UP or DeviceMaster MOD.
Repeat the above procedure for each port that you want to use as a COM port.

You are now ready to connect the serial devices to the DeviceMaster UP or DeviceMaster MOD ports. You can refer the appropriate DeviceMaster UP | DeviceMaster MOD guide for cabling information.:

Note
The DeviceMaster UP 16-port only operates with Modbus Router.
