IO-Link Master EIP Series Data Storage (Parameter Server)
Implement the Data Storage feature to upload IO-Link device parameters for storage
on the IO-Link Master or to download those same parameters to a replacement IO-Link device,
either automatically or manually.
Data storage was introduced with IO-Link v1.1. Not all IO-Link v1.1 devices support data storage.
To determine if an IO-Link device supports, you can check one of these pages:
IO-Link Diagnostics - check to see if
the Data Storage Capable field displays Yes. IO-Link Settings - if the port displays an
UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD button
(Data Storage Manual Ops) it supports data storage.
| Note |
---|
Typically, IO-Link devices should be configured before uploading or downloading data storage.
If applicable, you may want to load IODD files and configure the IO-Link device using the
corresponding Attached Devices | Port page. |

Refer to discussion that you require:
Uploading data storage (automatic
or manual) from the IO-Link device on a port or ports to the IO-Link Master Downloading data storage (automatic or
manual) from the IO-Link Master to the IO-Link device on a port or ports
Uploading Data Storage (Automatic)
Use this procedure to automatically upload data storage for selected ports.
If a port does not display UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD buttons
under the Data Storage Manual Ops
group on the Configuration | IO-Link Setting page, that means the device does not support data storage.
Open the IO-Link Master embedded web interface. Click Configuration | IO-Link. Click the EDIT button or buttons for the
port or ports for which you want to store the data on the IO-Link Master. Select On in the drop list for
Automatic Data Storage Upload Enable. If desired, also enable the Automatic Download Enable feature. Click SAVE. If desired, verify that the Automatic Data Storage Configuration field displays
Upload-Only and Data Storage Ready field
displays Yes on the IO-Link Diagnostics page.
The data storage clears for the IO-Link Master port and the storage data on the IO-Link device
uploads and saves on the IO-Link Master port.
Uploading Data Storage (Manual)
Use this procedure to manually upload data storage for a selected port or ports.
Open the IO-Link Master embedded web interface. Click Configuration | IO-Link. Click the EDIT button or buttons for the port or ports
for which you want to store the data on the IO-Link Master. Scroll down to Manual Data Storage Manual Ops. Click the UPLOAD button or buttons for the port or ports for which
you want to store the data on the IO-Link Master. Click the CONTINUE button to the Continue to upload the data storage
on IO-Link Master port [number]? message. Click the OK button to the Data storage upload successful
port message.
The data storage clears for the IO-Link Master port and the storage data on the IO-Link
device uploads and saves on the IO-Link Master port.
Downloading Data Storage (Automatic)
Use this procedure to automatically download data storage for selected ports.
Open the IO-Link Master embedded web interface. Click Configuration | IO-Link Settings. Click the EDIT button or buttons for the port or ports for which
you want to download data storage to the IO-Link device. Select On in the drop list for Automatic Data Storage Download Enable. Click SAVE.
When an IO-Link device, which is the same model with different parameters is attached to the port,
data storage is automatically downloaded from the IO-Link Master to the IO-Link device.
Downloading Data Storage (Manual)
Use this procedure to manually upload data storage for a selected port or ports.
Click Configuration | IO-Link. Click the EDIT button or buttons for the port or ports for which
you want to download data storage to the IO-Link device. Scroll down to Manual Data Storage Ops. Click the DOWNLOAD button or buttons for the port or
ports for which you want to download the data on the IO-Link device. Click the CONTINUE button to the
Continue to download the data storage on IO-Link Master port [number]? message. Click the OK button to the
Data storage download successful on Port [number] message.
When an IO-Link device, which is the same model with different parameters is attached
to the port, data storage is downloaded from the IO-Link Master to the IO-Link device.
