DeviceMaster LT Installation Overview

Before Configuration

The following steps need to performed for most installations.

  1. Install the DeviceMaster LT.

  2. Install PortVision DX.

  3. Program the network information (IPv4 address) into the DeviceMaster LT using PortVision DX.

  4. If necessary, update SocketServer. Check the SocketServer version on the DeviceMaster LT against the latest released version.

    Technical Support recommends that you update to the latest version of SocketServer before installing an NS-Link device driver or configuring socket ports.

There are three basic types of installations depending on the requirements for your environment. You may want to configure the DeviceMaster LT serial ports for more than one purpose.

NS-Link COM Port Driver Installation Overview

Use the following procedure to install NS-Link COM ports.

  1. Make sure that you have performed the appropriate steps in the Before Configuration subsection.

  2. Locate the NS-Link driver and then install the NS-Link device driver.

  3. Perform the following steps in the Comtrol Drivers Management Console:

    1. Associate the MAC address of the DeviceMaster LT.

    2. Configure the DeviceMaster LT device properties.

    3. Configure the serial port attributes for the NS-Link driver.

  4. Optionally, configure one or more ports for socket mode.

  5. Connect the serial devices. Open the DeviceMaster LT User Guide if you need cabling information.

TCP/IP Socket Port Installation Overview

  1. Make sure that you have performed the appropriate steps in the Before Installation subsection.

  2. Configure the serial port attributes using the SocketServer web page.

    If required for your site, configure security in SocketServer.

  3. Connect the serial devices. Open the DeviceMaster LT User Guide if you need cabling information.
