DeviceMaster 500 Configuring Socket Ports

You can access the SocketServer or NS-Link web pages to configure socket port attributes using a web browser or through PortVision DX.

Note

Make sure that the DeviceMaster 500 contains the latest version of SocketServer before configuring socket ports or setting up security.

Web Browser

  1. Open a web browser.

  2. Enter the IP address of the DeviceMaster 500 that you want to configure.

    For socket configuration information click the Help button at the left in the DeviceMaster 500 web page.

  3. Click the port for which you want to configure socket port settings (serial, TCP connection configuration, and UDP connection configuration).

  4. Click Save to return to the main page.

  5. Optionally, access the following pages to configure additional settings.

    1. Click the Security tab if you want to enable security.

    2. Click the Email tab to configure email notification services.

    3. Click the RFC1006 tab to configure RFC1006 (ISO over TCP) settings.

  6. You are now ready to connect the serial devices to the DeviceMaster 500 ports. Open the DeviceMaster 500 Installation and Configuration Guide if you need cabling information.

PortVision DX

Use this procedure to access the SocketServer/NS-Link web page.

  1. If necessary, start PortVision DX, highlight the DeviceMaster 500 in the Device List pane that you want to configure, and click WebPage button.

  2. Click the port for which you want to configure socket port settings (serial, TCP connection configuration, and UDP connection configuration).

  3. Click Save to return to the main page.

  4. Optionally, access the appropriate information to configure additional settings.

    1. Click the Security tab if you want to enable security.

      If you enable security, PortVision DX displays a lock next to that DeviceMaster 500.

    2. Click the Email tab to configure email notification services.

    3. Click the RFC1006 to configure RFC1006 (ISO over TCP) settings.

  5. You are now ready to connect the serial devices to the DeviceMaster 500 ports. Open the DeviceMaster 500 Installation and Configuration Guide if you need cabling information.
