You can program an IPv6 address
using the DeviceMaster web page (SocketServer/NS-Link). Optionally, you can use the DeviceMaster web page by
initially accessing the web page with an IPv4 address programmed using PortVision DX. |

If necessary, install PortVision DX. Start PortVision DX using the PortVision DX desktop shortcut or from the Start
button, click Pepperl+Fuchs Comtrol, Inc. > PortVision DX. Depending on your operating system, you may need to click
Yes to a User Account Control message. If this is the first time you have opened PortVision DX, click Scan. Choose the appropriate device types and then click Scan to locate DeviceMaster LT units
on the same Ethernet segment of this network.

PortVision DX locates all Comtrol Ethernet-attached devices if you select all of the device types.
You can save time if you only scan for device types that you have on the network or want to locate. |

Right-click the DeviceMaster LT for which you want to program network information and
click the Properties option.
Optionally, rename the DeviceMaster LT in the
Device Name field. A Device Name is required.
The default name is Device and the last three octets of the MAC address.

The MAC address is automatically loaded and cannot be changed.
The serial number is automatically loaded into PortVision DX.
The Device Status is the same status as listed on the Main screen. |

Select the appropriate Detection Type:
REMOTE means that the DeviceMaster LT is not connected to this segment of the
network and it uses IP communications, not MAC communications. LOCAL means that the DeviceMaster LT is on this local network segment and uses MAC communications.
An IP address is not required but Technical Support recommends using an IP address.
Change the DeviceMaster LT network properties as required for your site.
If you want to run the DeviceMaster LT using the MAC addressing scheme,
click Disable IP. To use the DeviceMaster LT with DHCP, click DHCP IP,
and make sure that you provide the MAC address of the DeviceMaster LT to the network administrator.
Make sure that the administrator reserves the IP address, subnet mask and gateway address of the
DeviceMaster LT in the DHCP server. To program a static IP address, click Static IP
and enter the appropriate values for your site.
Leave the default Bootloader Timeout value. Click Apply Changes
to update the network information on the DeviceMaster LT. Click Close to exit the
Properties window.

After configuring the network, you are ready to check the firmware versions and possibly
update the firmware before configuring the ports.
