DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway Programming the IP Address

After installing the hardware, you are ready to program the network information (IP address) into the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway using PortVision DX or Redboot.

The DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway includes DeviceMaster UP, DeviceMaster EIP, DeviceMaster MOD, and DeviceMaster PNIO models.

PortVision DX (Windows)

  1. Install PortVision DX.

  2. Start PortVision DX using the PortVision DX desktop shortcut or from the Start button, click Programs | Comtrol | PortVision DX.

  3. If this is the first time you have opened PortVision DX, click the Scan button.

  4. Select the Pepperl+Fuchs Comtrol, Inc. Ethernet-attached device types that you would like to locate and then click the Scan button.

    PortVision DX will locate all Pepperl+Fuchs Comtrol, Inc. Ethernet-attached managed devices when on the local network segment, excluding the DeviceMaster FreeWire.

  5. Right-click the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway for which you want to program network information and open the Properties screen using one of these methods.

    • Double-click the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway in the Device Tree or Device List pane.

    • Click the Properties button in the toolbar.

    • Right-click the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway in the Device Tree or Device List pane and click Properties.

  6. Optionally, enter a friendly name for the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway in the Device Name field, which displays in the Device Tree or Device List pane on the main page.

  7. The MAC address is automatically loaded and cannot be changed.

  8. Optionally, enter the Serial Number. The serial number is located on a label on the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway.

    Some DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway models automatically load the serial number, which cannot be changed.

  9. The Device Status is the same status as listed on the main page.

  10. Select the appropriate Detection Type:

    • REMOTE means that the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway is not connected to this segment of the network and it uses IP communications.

    • LOCAL means that the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway is on this local network segment.

  11. Change the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway network properties as required for your site.

    • To use the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway with DHCP, click DHCP IP, and make sure that you provide the MAC address of the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway to the network administrator. Make sure that the administrator reserves the IP address, subnet mask and gateway address of the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway in the DHCP server.

    • To program a static IP address, click Static IP and enter the appropriate values for your site.

  12. Click Apply Changes to update the network information on the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway.

  13. Click Close to exit the Properties window.

  14. After configuring the network, you are ready to check the firmware version before configuring the ports.

Using Redboot to Program the IP Address

You can use refer to the appropriate document for procedures to program the IP address in the DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway through a serial connection (null-modem cable) or telnet with RedBoot.

The default DeviceMaster Industrial Gateway IP address is 192.168.250.250.

After configuring the network, you are ready to check the firmware version before configuring the ports.
