Installation follows these basic steps. You can open the RocketPort EXPRESS SMPTE User Guide for hardware installation procedures, cabling information, and troubleshooting.

Locate the RocketPort EXPRESS SMPTE device driver assembly and copy to it to a location available to the host PC.
Install the RocketPort EXPRESS SMPTE adapter.

If necessary, set the DIP switches for the appropriate communications mode. The default DIP switch setting is DCE.

The following table provides signal information for the DB9 female connector.

Attach the Octacable or interface box (panel or rackmount ).
Power on the PC.

Note
Windows: Click Cancel if a Found New Hardware message appears.
Install the device driver for your operating system. You may need to configure the device driver, if your serial devices are not using the device driver default values.

- Other device driver assemblies contain a readme file with device driver installation and configuration information.
Connect the serial devices to the RocketPort EXPRESS SMPTE ports.

For installation problems, there are applications available to test the device driver or you can install the Pepperl+Fuchs Comtrol, Inc. Utility and run Test Terminal to test serial ports.
